The Picturesque Chitradurga
Chitradurga is one of the important historical centres in Karnataka. There are large number of places worth seeing in and around the city. The mountain range at the back of the city is called chinmuladri. According to Scientists, the fossile found in one of the rocks in the hill is said to be millions of years old. Since Chitradurga is surrounded by hills, one has to enter the city through one of the following passes namely Ingaldal, Kunchiganahal, Hebbulikallu, Seebara, Guddada Rangavanahalli, Gonur, Dyamavanahalli, Upanayakanahalli and Tamatakal.
The beauty of the chinmuladri range is fascinating and charming. Consisting of gigantic rocks, the hills look golden in the early morning, silvery in the sunny afternoon and crimson in the evening.
As tourists approach the city, the gateways of the ancient fortifications, and bastions arouse in them curiosity. AS the visitors enter the imposing fort of Chitradurga and climb the hills, the wonderful historical monuments and picturesque spots there will surely bewitch and delight them.
